How to cook ribeye steak in a pan

1. Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.

2. Pat the steak dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear.

3. Season both sides of the steak generously with salt and pepper.

4. Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet or cast-iron pan over high heat until it's very hot.

5. Add a small amount of cooking oil (such as vegetable or canola oil) to the pan and swirl it around to coat the bottom.
